MY VACATION IN GOA

On 4th January 2011, we began our departure to Goa at 9 am local time. We were altogether twenty seven people. We were guided by Fr. Valerian D’Souza (Director of SJEC), Sister Isabela, Ms. Prajwal D’Souza, and Ms. Sharika Kapali. We rented a tourist bus (Shree Mookambika).
Our journey to Goa was very comfortable because along the journey to Goa we sang together the cheerful songs. Our journey to Goa was about seven hours. We arrived in Goa at 6 pm. We had our dinner at Jhony bar and restaurant on Benaulin beach. During our holidays we were stayed at St. Don Bosco’s convent.
We had a precious holidays in Goa. Goa is a beautiful city with many beautiful beaches. It’s located in southern part of India. The people who live here are in a general way along the coast line. The capital of Goa is Panaji.
Second day on 5th January we visited some places like Dona Paula beach, the view in the morning in this place was very beautiful. This beach is an attractive beach in Goa. It has a mysterious past. It is said that the spirit of the Dona Paula, daughter of Viceroy in (colonial India) haunt the beach. It is said she threw herself off the cliff when she was refused permission to marry local fisherman Gaspar Dias. My Indian friend said that through the story he knew, her soul is sometimes seen emerging from waves on a moon lit night. That is why this beach was named Dona Paula. We had lunch at a restaurant on Calangute beach. Then we visited Aguada Fort, it was built by Portuguese in 1612 AD. This fort was built to protect Goa from any external enemy attacks from the sea and a part of the fort has been transformed in to central jail. On the way back in the night we pay a visit Mae de Deus church. It is located in Saligao, Goa. It is well lit and superb sight especially at night. It was built in 1873. We were very enjoyed because we had dinner at O Coquero restaurant. While we ate our dinner, we were entertained by live country music.
Third day on 6th  January we visited St. Francis Xavier church in old Goa. It was built in 1884. In this church St. Francis mortal remains are kept. Nearby this church there is St. Catherine Chapel, where in this church people believe a cross grow up slowly. Furthermore we visited The Archaeological Museum of Goa, which was set up in 1964. In this museum there are many pictures which painted. And there is a statue of Portuguese visionary Alfonso Albuquerque. It made from iron, about 2 meters in height. Furthermore we visited the church of St. Augustine. It was built in 1835. The soaring 46 meters height bell tower still remains. This site located in old Goa, on top of holy hill, Panaji. After that  we visited Miramar beach in Panaji. Furthermore in the evening we visited paradise boat. We enjoyed Indian dances performance on this boat.
Fourth day on 7th January we visited Calangute beach again with our Indian friend Criel and Niveditha Prabu. It is located 16 km from Panaji. Calangute beach is popularly known as the queen of all Goa beaches. Something which still impress in my mind is me and my friend, we had parasailing on this beach. We spent our time here till evening. Then at night we had dinner at Sweet Chilly restaurant.
Fifth day on 8th January we returned to Mangalore (St. Joseph Engineering College) safely. I was very enjoyed because it was my first experience I ever had in my life had a gorgeous vacation in Goa. I thank to my Lord Jesus because of his amazing grace this vacation well passed, I gained more experience about Indian culture in Goa and one thing which very important was we all safe when we returned.

NOVEMBER 12

Today is heroes’ day. Because today is twelve November. Timorese people are commemorating this day to appreciate the heroes who struggled for our beloved country. Everyone is feeling sad but for me I am glad and clap hands, although they are not alive but their spirit still alive. Their sacrifice will never disappear through all of generations will come and tributes for them are forever. Certainly I cannot do anything to reply their immolation but I just want to say “you are my heroes and all of you’re incredible I am proud of you”. All of you are like pillar which reinforce our nation. I can only kneel, raise my hands and praying “may all generations will come do same thing as all of you have done”. We need  the spirit that you had to face all the challenges which will be attack our nation. VIVA ASUWAIN TIMOR  LESTE!!!

ALL ABOUT ME

I am a farm boy from Lospalos. My name is Lamberto. Sometimes my parents and my brothers called me ‘Lama’. Some of my friends also called me ‘Moco’. It is called name for boys and girls who grew up in Lospalos. Now I’m twenty five years old, maybe in forty years more I will die but my dream is I want to live a hundred years more, like people who ever lived long time ago. I am 165 cm in height. I have straight black hair, my body is slim; I have long face, and my eyes are small and black. I am an active person, that’s why some of my friend say that I am suitable to enter military academic, but I am not interested in military, because I want to be free, free as eagle flies freely in the sky. I do love to read holy Bible because I know that it has the word of God written down by the prophets and Jesus Christ’s disciples. It also makes me strong and teaches me about many things such as how to love God, man and nature surroundings me. And also about leadership taught by Jesus Christ like He washed his disciples feet which means a leader’s duty is to serve not to be served. I like many sports but I prefer gymnastics because it is not a hard sport. Besides that it can also makes me healthy and self-confident. I do gym for an hour. I often spend my time to read some books like motivation books and others like comedies books. I look like a quite person but if you know me more, I am also a talk-active person and sometimes I don’t give time for others to speak because I enjoy to speak and share as much as I know. I hate coming late or being absent. I am very appreciate others time, because time is age. If somebody spends his time for us he spends a part of his lifes for us. I like country music, pop music, reggae music and slow rock. I care for other people than myself and also I am a sensitive person, if other people sad or unwell, I also feel sad. But if they are glad and laughing, I also feel glad. Because we’re one body but different function that is why if one part of the body feels pain others also feel the same thing. I will struggle as much as I can to reach my future. My goal is to be a successful man. That is my final destination. I have made an important decision early and I know how to manage it properly in my life. I know that my successful is determined by my daily agenda. I spend my day by preparing because I don’t like to repair what I have done. I am optimistic with my ambition that I will success in my life. Sometimes I am doing silly things in my life like if I see something in my leisure time like I see the stars in the night I always look at it and admire at that and smiling by myself and said “How wonderful that stars are in the sky and I imagine that I am one of those stars in the sky and I count the others stars around me. I also admire and said “God who created it is surely very splendor”. Sometimes I asked myself that “Why God created the stars in the sky and me on the earth and why I can’t fly to reach them, what is the reason? I sigh and answered my own question, “So that you can admire and enjoy God’s excellent art.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SUCCESS?

The Meaning of Success – Some Personal Perspectives

I recently asked for views on the meaning of success from subscribers to “The Dreamer’s Guide” Motivation newsletter. These are some of the responses that I received:
Miss JNC
Moses, I am glad you asked this question, as I have recently been contemplating on a similar issue. You see at the moment, I am very grateful to God for all He has done for me in my life. This year, especially, God blessed me more and more in my area of finance and career. To my friends and colleagues, they look at me and say "wow, you are successful".
However, I still felt a desire to HAVE MORE. And the desire to HAVE MORE was not for more money or another good career, nor was it a desire for a better car, clothes, home (as God has taken care of that)....it took a while before I could figure out that, I was not just being an ungrateful spoilt person but actually God's intention is to go beyond, what I and others think is success.
I went back to the book of Genesis and discovered that the first man, Adam, was one who can be termed as one of the richest and successful man ever lived. You see Adam, was given a high responsibility which no one has ever had on earth...which other man was given "dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" (Gen 1:26) Or how many men do we have that have land filled with gold, onyx and rivers flowing from the east, west, south and north.
But, Adam had all this and yet he wanted to HAVE MORE. And it was not more animals or land nor gold...he needed something in addition to what he had. And then God gave him Eve.
So Moses, to me success means a number of things if I can mention a few:
Success is being able to HAVE something that can be SHARED. If you are able to share a R100 then you are successful. If you are unable share R1000 then you are unsuccessful. The ability (not desire) to share whatever you have is success.Success means having SOMEONE to share what you HAVE. What is the point in having everything to yourself and not enjoying it with anyone? This does not bring any fulfillment.
In addition to sharing what you have with someone else, it is also important that you are HAPPY with what you have and HAPPY with whom you are sharing what you have.
In summary success is to HAVE something that can be SHARED with SOMEONE and being HAPPY with what you HAVE and with whom you are sharing.

Being able to achieve what I go for.
Like you said most of you motivational experts concentrate on finance, perhaps because that is what most people are in for, but I consider spiritual contentment as number one. As a result that is what I go for. The money will naturally flow afterwards. And it always does!!

Mutinta Mwenda
I will start by saying what success is not,
- Success is not "being wealth"
- Success is not being comfortable.
I think success has a lot to do with "how many challenges you have overcome in life". e.g. a 'Kaponya' (street vendor) who has had a lot of problems and over came them but still plods on is more successful than a person who gets everything from a silver plate and have everything they need.
And true success comes only through the fear of God. "The fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom" and it is only through wisdom should one succeed. Remember success is how much challenges you have overcome, be it social, physical, intellectually, spiritually, or financially. That’s my opinion. Thanks.
